Venntro X GDI European Conference, London 2023

On Thursday the 14th of September, the Global Dating Insights European Conference, London 2023 brought together a dynamic community of over 100 online dating professionals under one roof!

The vibrant event provided a platform for leading brands like "Happn," "Hily," "Djungo," and "Irisnet" to share their invaluable insights, ranging from reimagined brand strategies to cutting-edge marketing and automation innovations.

One overarching theme that dominated the discussions was the profound impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the online dating landscape!

The conference shed light on how AI is revolutionising the way we engage in conversations on dating platforms. Brands like Djungo showcased how AI-driven chatbot functionality is enhancing user experiences, facilitating more meaningful connections, and streamlining interactions.

Additionally, AI plays a crucial role in safeguarding users from potential threats. Talks from software provider “Irisnet” emphasised how AI-powered algorithms can be instrumental in detecting and preventing scams and fraudulent activities, thereby creating a safer environment for all users.

A notable conference highlight was the executive panel featuring industry leaders, including the insightful Stacy Thomson. The panel emphasised the significance of utilising AI as a tool to complement rather than replace human interactions in the online dating sphere. This forward-thinking approach emphasised the synergy between AI-driven enhancements and the authentic connections forged through genuine human engagement on online dating platforms.

We found two particular speakers the most enjoyable!

Karima Ben Abdelmale shared with the room Happn’s reason for the change and a complete re-brand from a 'techy' design to something far more 'organic' and in line with the connections her brand is trying to forge for its members.

The second, arguably the MVP of the event, was Nicky Wake, the founder of Chapter 2, a widows or widowers dating brand that has seen a huge rise in popularity and familiarity since its launch last year. A combination of in-person events and empathy from its founder to its members has seen the brand take off with its users. Nicky was entertaining and brilliantly humble in her approach to her business's rise in the market. We thought Nicky stole the show!

The entire conference provided a comprehensive glimpse into the future of online dating, with AI emerging as a pivotal force in reshaping the industry from both a B2B and B2C perspective.

From enhancing conversations through chatbot functionalities to fortifying safety measures against scammers and fraudsters. The invaluable insights shared by industry leaders underscored the potential for a harmonious coexistence of AI and human interactions on our platforms.

While AI clearly has its place, and we’ll see businesses use AI extensively over the next 10 years, there was a profound, and underpinning gesture and feeling from the room that the organic interactions between online dating users were still the defining element of a business's and users' success in finding love, friendship, and meaningful connections.

GDI, congratulations on another standout event, of which we were delighted to attend. See you next year!
